Integers and coordinates
Integers include positive numbers, zero and negative numbers. On a number line, the greater number lies farther right, while opposite numbers are equally distant from zero.
Operations and points
For equal signs, add absolute values and keep the sign; for different signs, subtract absolute values. In (x, y), move horizontally according to x and then vertically according to y.
Related mathematics tests
Time, mass, speed
This test covers calculations involving time, mass, speed and related quantities. Tasks develop correct use of measurement units, application of the relationship between speed, time and distance and interpretation of practical situations.
Volume, sole
This test develops understanding of volume and capacity and the distinction between them. Tasks involve space occupied by solid objects, selection of suitable cubic or capacity units and simple practical calculations.
Mean, mode and median
This test develops the ability to calculate and interpret the arithmetic mean, mode, median and range. Tasks require students to order data, read frequency tables and choose the most appropriate measure of centre for a situation.
