A point marks a location. Lines and their parts extend from one location towards others.
Count the books in the picture and group them in pairs. Each pair needs one circle, so you need as many circles as there are pairs.
Match the stated direction with an arrow. Left and right are opposites, as are up and down.
The greater number comes later when you count. Imagine two groups of objects: the greater number describes the group with more objects.
For example, 7 is greater than 4.
Add the coin values in each set. Choose the set whose total equals the price.
First subtract the price from €10 to find the correct change. Then subtract the change already received.
Follow the commands up to the question mark. Choose the step that leads from there to A.
The numbers in this sequence decrease by one. Subtract 1 from the first number at each step.
Count the blank position too. Check that the next step gives the last number shown.
Look closely at the sides and corners of the shape.
Read the property in the question and find the shape that matches it.
Taking pencils out leaves fewer in the box. Subtract the number taken from the number there were at the start.
Read the numbers in the text. The pencil illustration is only decorative.
Read the number written as a word and choose its numeral.
For example, “five” means 5. You do not need to add or subtract.
Balanced scales have equal mass on both sides. Add the masses written on the weights.
First find which object the question asks about. Then read where it is: on the left or on the right.
Answer about the object named in the question. It may be either of the two objects.
At an exact hour, the minutes are 00. Write the hour before the colon and the minutes after it.
For example, exactly 3 o’clock is written as 3:00.
The blank shows how much was taken away, and the number after = shows how much remains.
Compare each arrow with the direction from one point to the next. Choose the number of the first command that does not match.
Look closely at the sides and corners of the shape.
Read the property in the question and find the shape that matches it.
Count in order from the first number, adding 1 each time. One number is missing between the two shown numbers.
For example, 2, __, 4 is missing 3. Check that the last shown number comes after your answer.
A segment ends at both ends. A ray has a starting point but extends endlessly in the other direction.
To decrease a number by one means to subtract 1 from it.
Rule: if the given number is a, the answer is a − 1.
Undo the last step first. Reverse the order of the commands and the direction of each arrow.
Add the values of all the coins. Count euros, not coins.
The smaller number comes earlier when you count. It describes fewer objects.
For example, 3 is smaller than 8. Compare the two given numbers and choose the smaller one.
Read all four words. Find what three of them have in common: they might be fruits, animals, colours or shapes.
Choose the word that does not belong to that group. For example, a chair does not belong with three fruits.
Start at S. Follow every arrow one square at a time, then read the letter of the final square.
This pattern repeats two groups: first, second, first, second...
Compare the first and third groups. They are the same, so the blank needs the same group as the second. Choose the matching number of objects too.
Compare the first two numbers: this sequence subtracts 2 at each step.
Subtract 2 from the second number to find the missing number. Subtracting another 2 must give the last number shown.
The same symbol count and the same key represent equal quantities.
Time left: 00:00:00

This complete Grade 1 mathematics test helps students review the main school topics in one mixed set of tasks. Questions are selected from different tests for this grade, so each attempt can be different.
Choose a 15, 30, 45 or 60 minute test. A longer duration creates a larger task set covering calculation, word problems, geometry and other topics studied in the grade.
A full grade test is useful for independent checking, revision before a class assessment or mathematics exam preparation. Work at your own pace, review the result and try again: dynamic questions help students learn methods instead of memorising previous answers.
Dynamic addition, subtraction, missing-number and short word-problem tasks within 20.
Visual tasks on recognising circles, triangles, squares and rectangles and describing their sides and corners.
Use direction words, read arrow routes, and choose a path to a stated destination.
Read and create short command sequences, predict their result, and find a missing step.
