Use the given probability to identify standardized threshold z. Solve z = (x − μ) / σ for σ. Distinguish standard deviation from variance.
Standardize the threshold. The right-tail probability is 1 − Φ(z). For a negative threshold, use normal-distribution symmetry. The answer is approximate.
Choose the standardized threshold from the given cumulative probability. Use the opposite sign for the complementary probability. Convert back using c = μ + σz.
Subtract the mean from x and divide by the standard deviation: z = (x − μ) / σ. Its sign identifies the side of the mean.
For Y = aX + b, the mean is aμ + b and the standard deviation is |a|σ. A constant shift does not change spread; a negative multiplier does not make the standard deviation negative.
Standardize the threshold and find the probability for one item, using symmetry for a negative threshold. Multiply by the item count to obtain the expected count, not a guaranteed total.
Standardize both interval bounds and subtract the lower cumulative probability from the upper one. Use Φ(−t) = 1 − Φ(t). The answer is approximate.
Divide the same distance from the mean by each standard deviation. Smaller spread gives greater probability within the same symmetric interval. Outside the interval the comparison reverses.

Eight dynamic advanced-course tasks. Necessary standard normal cumulative probabilities are provided in the conditions.
Ordering, group selection, adjacent elements, forming numbers and selection constraints.
This test develops the geometric and physical interpretations of a derivative. Students form tangent equations, interpret velocity and acceleration and connect the sign of a derivative with the behaviour of a function.
Quotient and chain rules, logarithms, exponentials, radicals, trigonometric and second derivatives.
Binomial probability, complementary events, model assumptions and classical and geometric probability.
